Marvel casts Ryan Gosling as Ghost Rider for 2028 film
Shawn Levy is directing the upcoming film
Marvel has cast Ryan Gosling as Ghost Rider, with the Barbie and The Fall Guy star set to play the supernatural Marvel hero in a new film directed by Deadpool & Wolverine filmmaker Shawn Levy.
Gosling was introduced as the new Ghost Rider during Marvel Studios’ San Diego Comic-Con presentation in July. The actor has previously spoken about his interest in playing the character, who is known for his flaming skull and supernatural motorcycle.
Gosling joins the MCU
The casting will bring Ghost Rider into the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time as part of a Marvel Studios feature film. Nicolas Cage previously played Johnny Blaze, one version of the character, in Sony’s Ghost Rider films released in 2007 and 2012.
Levy is directing the new film, while Jonathan Tropper is writing the screenplay. Gosling and Levy are also working together on Star Wars: Starfighter, which is scheduled for release in 2027.
Marvel has scheduled Ghost Rider for a theatrical release on July 28th, 2028. The film will add another established Marvel character to the MCU as the studio continues to expand its upcoming slate.
