Netflix has just released our first official look at Henry Cavill as the star of its coming fantasy series The Witcher. The eight-episode miniseries, based on the best-selling books by Andrzej Sapkowski, is about to begin production in Hungary.

Geralt of Rivia is a solitary monster hunter who struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.

Cavill, who is a massive fan of Sapkowski's books, will be taking up his first TV series regular role since his portrayal of Charles Brandon on Showtime's **The Tudors**. It also comes amid specualtion that his time as Clark Kent/Superman has come to an end.
